Getting around in Aomori

The easiest way around Aomori is on foot, since the major sights and attractions are within walking distance from each other. Though, some sights are located a bit further ahead, where a car or bus might be necessary. 

Getting to Aomori

Public transportation: 

To get from Tokyo to Aomori by public transportation, travelers need to take a train. There are two options available, the Shinkansen (bullet train) and the regular train. Detailed instructions are as follows:

  • Bullet Train: Take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen "Hayabusa" from Tokyo Station to Shin-Aomori Station. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.

  • Regular Train: Take the JR Ueno Tokyo Line from Tokyo Station to Ueno Station. Transfer to the JR Limited Express "Hokutosei" to Aomori Station. The journey takes approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes.
