Getting around in Fuji Five Lakes

Most major sights and attractions are also accessible by bus, as there is vast bus network within the area. To make navigating easier, travelers are advised to check-out our customized map above and look for the black lines, which signify the bus network's route within the area. Though, easiest way to get around in Fuji Five Lakes is by car. Since Fuji Five Lakes is located quite rurally, it is best to rent a car ahead from one of the bigger destinations close by, if you decide to do so. Getting to Fuji Five Lakes

Public transportation:

To get from Tokyo to Fuji Five Lakes by public transportation, travelers need to take a train or a bus. Detailed instructions are as follows:

  • Train: Take the JR Chuo Line Limited Express "Azusa" or "Kaiji" from Shinjuku Station to Otsuki Station. Transfer to the Fujikyuko Line and continue to Kawaguchiko Station. The total journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

  • Bus: Take the Fujikyuko Bus or Keio Bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal to Kawaguchiko Station. The journey takes approximately 2 hours.

    • Coverage:

      • One-way ticket from Tokyo (Shinjuku) to Hakone by Odakayu Railways (except for the Romance Car Train)

      • All Odakyu trains, boats, cable cars and ropeways within the Hakone Area
