Getting around in the Izu Islands
The easiest way to get around on the main island (Oshima Island) is by car, but most major sights and attractions are accessible by bus. Though, travelers will have to rely on single tickets or a prepaid card, since no special train or bus passes are provided within this area. If you decide to rent a car, it is advised to do so from the nearest airport in the vicinity. You can use our car rental widget in the FAQ menu below.
It's also important to note that the Izu Islands consists of multiple smaller islands. To get around them, it is advised to take the following ferries:
Getting to the Izu Islands
Public transportation:
Most travelers will arrive at Motomachi Port, as Oshima is the biggest island of the chain and has the most facilities for tourists. From there, travelers have access to the island's bus network. Be advised that buses run infrequent in this area.
