The easiest way to get around in Izumo is by car, but most major sights and attractions are accessible by a combination of trains and busses. Though, travelers will have to rely on single tickets or a prepaid card, since no special train or bus passes are provided within this area.If you decide to rent a car, it is advised to do so from the nearest airport in the vicinity. Public transportation:

To get from Osaka to Izumo by public transportation, travelers need to take a train. Detailed instructions are as follows:

• Bullet Train:

  1. Take the JR Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka Station to Okayama Station.

  2. Transfer to the JR Limited Express Yakumo train and get off at Izumo-shi Station. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Bus passes:

• by car: approximately 30 minutes

• by public transport: approximately 35 minutes

Beaches:

The swimming season on mainland Japan is usually between July and August.
