The easiest way to get around in Okinawa Honto (North Area) is by car from Naha, but most major sights and attractions are accessible by bus. Though, travelers will have to rely on single tickets or a prepaid card, since no special train or bus passes are provided within this area.

Okinawa Honto (North Area) also offers two smaller islands that can be accessed by a short ferry-ride:

The swimming season in Okinawa is usually between March and October.

Hiking:

Because of the tropical climate, hiking in Okinawa is possible througout the entire year. Travelers should be cautious not to become dehydrated when hiking during the summer.

The best time to see cherry blossoms in Okinawa is usually between January and early February. Although the blooming period can vary slightly from year to year.
