Getting around in Kofu

The easiest way to get around in Kofu is by car, but most major sights and attractions are accessible by a combination of trains and busses. If you decide to rent a car, it is advised to do so from the nearest airport in the vicinity. You can use our car rental widget in the FAQ menu below. 

Getting to Kofu

Public transportation:

To get from Tokyo to Kofu by public transportation, travelers need to take a train. Detailed instructions are as follows:

  • Bullet Train: Take the JR Chuo Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Shin-Yokohama Station. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes.

  • Regular Train:

    1. Transfer at Shin-Yokohama Station to the JR Tokaido Line and take it to Hachioji Station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour.

    2. Transfer to the JR Chuo Main Line and take it to Kofu Station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
