Getting around in Hiraizumi

The easiest way to get around in Hiraizumi is on foot, since many of the major sights and attractions are within walking distance. Though, some are a bit further away which might require a bus or car to get there.

Getting to Hiraizumi

Public transportation: 

To get from Sendai to Hiraizumi by public transportation, travelers need to take a train. Detailed instructions are as follows:

  • Bullet Train:

    1. Take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Sendai Station to Ichinoseki Station. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes.

    2. Transfer to the JR Tohoku Main Line and get off at Hiraizumi Station. The additional journey takes about 10 minutes.
       

  • Regular Train:

    1. Take the JR Tohoku Main Line from Sendai Station to Ichinoseki Station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.

    2. Transfer to the JR Tohoku Main Line towards Morioka and get off at Hiraizumi Station. The additional journey takes about 10 minutes.
