Getting around in Atami

The easiest way around Atami is on foot, since the major sights and attractions are within walking distance from each other. Be sure to check-out the ropeway that leads you to Atami Castle.

Getting to Atami

Public transportation:

To get from Tokyo to Atami by public transportation, travelers need to take a train. There are two options available, the Shinkansen (bullet train) and the regular train. Detailed instructions are as follows:

  • Bullet Train: Take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Atami Station. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes.

  • Regular Train: Take the JR Tokaido Main Line from Tokyo Station to Atami Station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The nearest and most convenient airport is Haneda Airport in Tokyo.
