Nishi Izu and Matsuzaki are both coastal towns with stunning geological wonders, including several hot springs and sea caves. You can embark on a tour of the unique tectonic features by visiting places such as the Sawada Park Open-Air Bath or Dougashima Sea Cave Skylight. Or, spend a relaxing day at one the area's several stunning beaches.
The easiest way around Nishi Izu and Matsuzaki is by car, since many of the major sights and attractions are relatively far apart from each other. Though, there are only busses within the area, some sights are reachable by public transport.

Public transportation:
Travelers who come by train will have to transfer at Mishima station. From there, it is between 1 hour and a half and two hours by bus to most sights within Nishi Izu and Matsuzaki. Be advised that buses run infrequent in this area. For up-to-date bus schedules, we recommend syncing Google Maps with our customized map above (to do this: click the top right icon on the map to expand to full screen, and select a route between your destination and your current destination).
