The easiest way to get around in Ueda is by car, but most major sights and attractions are accessible by a combination of trains and busses. If you decide to rent a car, it is advised to do so from the nearest airport in the vicinity. You can use our car rental widget in the FAQ menu below.
Public transportation:
Travelers who come by train should get off at Ueda station. From there, some of the sights can be done on foot, while others require a bus from the station to get there.

We recommend staying here for about one day.
Rice fields:
The best time to visit the rice fields is in May or June although other times of year are also recommended as you will be able to view the fields at different points in the harvesting cycle.
There are two well-known festivals here throughout the year. Please be advised that the following list is based upon previous entries of those festivals and that the dates might have changed slightly in the following year. It is also possible that the entire festival is cancelled in the case of heavy rainfall or a natural disaster. Please check with the official organisers' website for the most up-to-date information.
